Dr. Susan Adams is an Associate Professor and teaches in the Counseling Program at Texas Woman’s University.  She received her Doctorate of Philosophy in Counselor Education from Texas A&M University – Commerce in 2000 and taught at Delta State University in Cleveland, MS before joining TWU’s faculty in the Fall of 2004.

Writer

Dr. Adams has been active in her professional organizations on a local, state, and national level.  She has written more than four dozen articles and published a grief group book entitled, “Teaching the Mourning Song. (See information about the book on this website.)

International Speaker:

Dr. Adams is a popular speaker who has been leading conferences for more four decades.  She was an invited keynote speaker at the International Grief Conference this past summer, as well as local, state, regional, and national workshops and conferences.  (See a partial listing on her current vita on this website.)

She challenges individuals to embrace life with excitement and humor. (She says she never knew how to answer the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up,” so now she simply says, “I don’t want to grow up!”)

Her unique ability and passion for living are evident as she delivers practical, innovative ideas designed to empower audiences to meet the challenges of living in a demanding, high stress world.

Corporate Work Experience

Before entering the counseling field, Dr. Adams worked in corporate America for more than two decades in the field of accounting and human resources.

Personal Life

However, at a significant turning point in her life, she returned to college life and entered her second phase of living.  She is blessed with family (John, her husband of more than forty-plus years, four children, and seven grandchildren), a rewarding career, and a sense of personal fulfillment.

Summary

As a counselor, executive, educator, wife, mother, and grandmother, she has learned that there are no “cookie-cutter" answers to life's struggles – only creative adventures!

Cheers and have a blessed day!
